Mobile number portability (MNP) allows mobile phone users to switch to Maxis, while retaining their existing mobile number. Both prepaid and postpaid customers can switch. Businesses can also switch to Maxis.
MNP services are fully available from 15 October 2008 onwards.
MNP offers freedom of choice. Now you are free to move to Maxis while retaining your mobile phone number. If you are not satisfied with your existing provider, you don't have to stay just to keep the number.
There are two quick and easy ways to switch into Maxis:
Walk in to any designated switching Maxis centre or dealer with customer’s MyKad for paperless switching.
IMPORTANT: Do not cancel your existing service before you transfer your number or you may lose it.
For consumers, it will take not more than 2 working days.
For non-consumer/ businesses, it will take not more than 10 days.

Consumer customers have to provide their:
MyKAD/ Passport/ Army IC/ Police IC
Full name as per IC
MSISDN (or telephone number)
Donor ID; i.e. DiGi, Celcom or UMobile
Non-Consumer customers or businesses have to provide the business:
MSISDN (or telephone number)
Donor ID; i.e. DiGi, Celcom or UMobile
Customer name
Old Account number from the donor telco
There are 2 types of switching:
The Consumer/ Simple switch refers to consumer switch requests which uses individual identification such as New NRIC, Old NRIC, Passport or Police/ Army ID. These subscriptions are registered under individual registration (Postpaid, Prepaid and Business Individuals).
The Non-Consumer/ Business switch/ Complex switch refers to business switch requests and uses business identification documents such as business registration number, society number, etc. The subscriptions are registered under the Company (Corporate and SME Business Packages).
Switching to Maxis is FREE.
Yes, you will need to change to a new SIM card. It will be issued to you when you ask to switch to Maxis.
Yes, they can.
Yes, switching from postpaid to prepaid is allowed and vice versa.
However, all switching requests are subject to Maxis’ existing terms and conditions for new registration.
You will still be able to top up your prepaid account while the switch in request is in progress. However, you will lose your credit balance (if there is any) once your switch in request has been approved.
Please use up your credit balance before you switch to Maxis.
Your current service provider has the right to reject your switch request. Your request may be rejected if:
You still have overdue amounts with your current service provider.
Your IC number does not tally with the one in the current provider’s records.
You have contractual obligations with your current service provider.
Your number is temporarily disconnected – involuntarily.
Your credit limit has exceeded.
You have yet to submit the porting of your principal line and all supplementary lines.
You still have other supplementary lines which have not been submitted for porting
(all principal and supplementary lines must be ported together)

What documents to I need to provide when I request to switch?
Company switch in as new registration:
- Sole proprietor/Partnership – Borang D, A or B; Director’s IC and 3 months’ bank statement
- Sdn Bhd – Form 9, 24 and 49; Director’s IC and 3 months’ bank statement
Switch in additional business lines to existing Maxis business account:
- Letter of request by authorized signatory
Switch in additional corporate individual lines to existing Maxis business account:
- IC, proof of employment, employee tag or letter from HR
- Letter of agreement to change ownership from individual to company line
- Letter of acceptance by company for change of ownership from individual to company line
Consumer switch in as Corporate Individual into an existing business account:
- IC, proof of employment, employee tag or letter from HR

What are the channels open for business switching request?
You may visit Maxis authorised SME dealers, Maxis SME Account Managers or Maxis Centres to submit your business switching request.
