International Roaming

It is very easy! Firstly, please activate International Roaming on Maxis app, Maxis Care portal or Easy Menu *100#.
On the Maxis app, select the line/ service which you would like to activate international roaming service, tap on Service details, select Value Added Services, and check the box for International Roaming. If the box is checked, means your International Roaming Service is ON. Uncheck if you need to switch off the later.
Alternatively, you may do the same at Maxis Care under “Manage Value Added Services”.
You have share lines or supplementary lines, their International Roaming Service can be activated or deactivated by you only. To activate International Roaming service for your supplementary line on via Maxis app, go to All Services and select the line you wish to activate Roaming, tap on Service details, select Value Added Services, and check the box for International Roaming.
You may also activate Intl Roaming via UMB:
- Dial *100#
- Select Intl Roaming;
- Select any Country;
- Select Activate Intl Roaming;
- Select ON; if your roaming is activated, you will be informed that your roaming is activated otherwise, it will activate international roaming for you.

It is very simple. Upon your arrival at your destination, you will receive an Welcome SMS from us indicating our preferred roaming. Just go to the network setting of your phone and select the operator indicated in the Welcome SMS and start using.
Checking network setting:
For Android Devices:
- Go to Settings
- Select More
- Select Carrier
- At Network Selection, turn off the “Automatic” selection, your phone will be searching for Network
- Select (the operator) indicated in the Welcome SMS.
For Apple Devices:- Go to Settings
- Select Cellular
- Carrier Services
- Network Selection, turn off the “Automatic” selection, your phone will be searching for Network
- Select (the operator) indicated in the Welcome SMS.

You can manage your data roaming usage by switching on or off "Data Roaming" on your phone.
You can do it on your phone, just go Settings, Cellular or Mobile Data to switch on or off your data roaming.
Note: you do not need to have data roaming to use WiFi when you are roaming. -
Australian Government had authorized to disable 3G service effective 28 October 2024. Along with a new legislation, that only phones connected to Australian networks must be able to make emergency Triple Zero (000) calls over 4G. This change had also affected the roaming requirements for travellers coming to Australia.
The impact:
Impact on Maxis users with active International Roaming service may experience inability to connect to local network even with 4G device and inability to make or receive calls and SMS without data.
