With 118 Pusat Internet Komuniti (PIK) under the care of Maxis, the Company has been taking proactive steps to onboard them in stages on to eKelas, Maxis’ flagship community program. Towards the end of February, Maxis completed its briefing session with a total of 72 managers and assistants from 36 PIKs located in Sarawak, Kelantan, Kedah, Perlis and Perak.
During the onboarding session, participants were introduced to the eKelas program, the type of content and activities that are available to students. The participants were also guided on how to encourage students in their area to enroll in eKelas. As a digital hub for the community, all PIK 36 PIK were equipped with 20Mbps internet connectivity, 20 desktop computers, as well as a projector and speaker which provides a conducive environment for students to access the eKelas portal for free live tutorial by experienced teachers via zoom and YouTube as well as learning content.
The PIK managers were very excited to be able to share eKelas with their students. As most of them are in very remote areas of their state, the educational program will greatly benefit their community. One of the PIK Managers from Pasir Pandak, Sarawak is also a tuition teacher to the students in his community. He shares that with all the videos, notes and content on the eKelas portal and YouTube Channel, he will be able to have quality materials to guide his students with from the comfort of the PIK.
