Maxis eKelas in 2023: Empowering students through enhanced learning experiences, new academic subjects and exciting grants
Maxis eKelas was launched in November 2016 to empower students, especially in rural areas, through digital learning. Initially implemented physically at selected Pusat Internet (PEDi) under Maxis’ care, eKelas is now available digitally to Year 4 to Form 5 students nationwide through an improved portal (http://www.ekelas.com.my/). To date, eKelas has impacted more than 76k students, teachers and parents through a combination of live tutorials, competitions and education content, as well as motivational sessions by Maxis’ own talents who volunteered their time and effort.
What is NEW in 2023 for eKelas?
As the nation’s leading converged solutions provider, Maxis is committed to continue leveraging digital technology to empower students through education. So what's in store for eKelas this year and how will it continue to make a positive impact on education nationwide?
- Enhanced Digital Learning Experience: In March, we launched an enhanced version of the eKelas portal and app, with significant improvements made to the user interface and user experience, ensuring a seamless and engaging learning environment. To make learning even more fun, gamified elements and daily challenges have been incorporated, motivating students to strive for excellence. Further, teachers and parents can now monitor and track their students' learning progress, fostering a collaborative approach to education.
- Expanded Academic Offerings: In response to students' needs, eKelas will be introducing two new academic subjects this year: Bahasa Melayu and Sejarah (History). These subjects hold significant importance as they are mandatory for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination. By incorporating Bahasa Melayu and Sejarah content, eKelas will provide students preparing for their SPM with comprehensive support, ensuring they have the necessary resources to excel.
- Empowering Skills Development: Recognising the importance of holistic development, eKelas continues to expand its skills-based content, focusing on critical digital and soft skills. Students now have the opportunity to enhance their communication abilities, learn content creation techniques, and acquire essential skills for the digital age such as coding and design thinking. This comprehensive approach equips students with the tools they need to develop holistically, and succeed both academically and in their future careers.
- Celebrating Student Achievements: The Anugerah Gemilang student grant initiative returns, celebrating remarkable student progress in subjects offered by eKelas. Students who demonstrate notable improvements in their grades will receive cash rewards in their Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) accounts. This financial support aims to ease the burden of tertiary education expenses and encourage students to pursue higher education.
Maxis eKelas welcomes students from Year 4 to Form 5, as well as teachers and parents, to join this thriving community. The eKelas app can be downloaded for free on Android or Apple devices, making access to quality education more convenient than ever.
