Celebrating Malaysian Folklore at HIPMaX StoryFest 2024: Over 15,000 Students Join HIPMaX StoryFest 2024 Workshops

It’s a wrap, and what an incredible journey it has been! Over the last two months, more than 15,000 students from Year 4 to Form 5 experienced the excitement of our storytelling and theatre performance workshops. The HIPMaX StoryFest workshops spanned six states—Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Sarawak, and Terengganu—and saw enthusiastic participation from 50 schools, making this year’s event our most vibrant yet!

HIPMaX StoryFest 2024, held in partnership with the English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) of the Ministry of Education (MOE) is more than just a competition; it is a platform for students to express their unique voices and perspectives. With this year's theme, "Celebrating Malaysian Folklore," we aim to bring together students from all over Malaysia to showcase their incredible talent and creativity.

At each school, we conducted a fun and interactive workshop, where we taught the students the basics of storytelling, acting, and stage presence. We also gave them a chance to practice their skills and showcase their talents in front of their peers. Despite their initial reluctance, the students quickly shined in their theatre performance on stage.

Recognising the role of teachers as drivers of student participation and engagement, the Maxis eKelas team also held curated workshops and briefings for teachers and district officers in the region to learn more about Maxis eKelas, and to be equipped to train their students to submit storytelling and theatre entries to the HIPMaX StoryFest competition.
