Maxis eKelas Misi Jelajah Digital 2024 competition promotes STEM skills development among Malaysian school students

The Maxis eKelas Misi Jelajah Digital (MJD) competition continues its mission to promote Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) interest among Malaysian school students by encouraging them to design a digital advocacy campaign utilising Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools.
The development of STEM skills among Malaysian school students has been recognised as crucial for Malaysia’s competitive future based on the new Digital Education Policy, and MJD is Maxis eKelas’ annual STEM challenge that advocates for the exposure to and development of these important skills.
For MJD 2024, Maxis eKelas is inviting students to create a digital campaign that supports one of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Themed “GenAI for Good”, this year’s MJD centres on the everyday use of GenAI in responsible, productive and creative ways. Students are encouraged to do their own research and select from any of the 17 goals to practice their prompt engineering and reasoning skills.

MJD 2024 was officially launched at Sekolah Menengah Teknik Kuala Lumpur recently, followed by a GenAI a workshop attended by 120 students. To aid even more students, Maxis eKelas is hosting a series of physical workshops at 70 selected schools in Johor, Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sabah and Selangor. Additionally, two virtual workshops were conducted via the Maxis eKelas Portal.
For MJD 2024, secondary school students are given guidance on how to use GenAI effectively as part of their digital skillset towards creating their respective digital campaigns. Primary school students are guided on the use of digital tools to equip them with skills needed to promote their chosen SDG.
Since 2016, Maxis eKelas has been helping to improve the academic performance of Malaysian students via an after school digital learning programme. Available to all students from Year 4 to Form 5, Maxis eKelas brings learning enrichment in a fun and vibrant way and provides access to quality education content through live tutorials, competitions, and a variety of digital content.
Maxis eKelas is available for free to all Malaysian students through www.ekelas.com.my or its mobile app via Google Play or iOS App Store.
