Maxis Reveals Special "Malaysian Family" Greeting Cards To Bring Strangers Closer

We all know Malaysia is a country of diversity, and each of us are part of a colourful, extended family – comprised of people from different backgrounds, speaking with different accents. Two days ago on 25 August, Maxis released a YouTube film titled "It's OK. We're All Malaysian" which immediately went viral with over 250,000 views in the first 36 hours. At the end of the video, Maxis hinted that it would introduce a fun new way for Malaysians to connect with this extended “Malaysian Family" which was revealed today. Maxis “Malaysian Family” greeting cards feature family terms in different languages – like ‘Uncle’, ‘Macha’ (brother-in-law in Tamil), ‘Jie Jie’ (sister in Mandarin), ‘Kak’, and ‘Aya’ (Uncle in Iban) – each with individualized greeting messages designed to help any of us tell a fellow Malaysian “you’re family to me”.

The set of 24 cards are available in two formats – e-cards designed to be shared with fellow Malaysians on social networks, and special edition printed cards which Maxis will be giving away to fans and followers on Maxis and Hotlink social media pages. To view all 24 cards, visit www.maxis.com.my/malaysianfamily.

“We have greeting cards for all the different festivals celebrated by different cultures in Malaysia, so why not Merdeka which is celebrated by all Malaysians of all cultures? This Merdeka, we just wanted to show that while we are different in many ways, we are all Malaysians first, and that means family. It is our sincere hope that these ‘Malaysian Family’ greeting cards helps Malaysians tell each other “you’re family to me”, thus reminding us of our ties with one another in the true spirit of Merdeka,” said Sulin Lau, Maxis’ Head of Marketing Services.
