Maxis Celebrates Christmas With Special Homes And Empowers Youth To Do Their Bit For Charity

As the festive season unfolds and goes into full swing, Maxis has once again turned their attention to the less fortunate. In the spirit of giving, 70 guests from three charity homes in Sarawak were treated to a special Christmas party at CityONE Megamall in Kuching today. Residents from the homes comprised infants, children, young adults and their respective caregivers. At the event, Maxis presented a total of RM30,000 to the homes namely The Salvation Army, Sarawak Children Cancer Society and Persatuan Bagi Kebajikan Kanak Kanak Terencat Akal, who were also presented with Christmas gifts through the much anticipated ‘Christmas Train’.

Maxis’ Head of Sarawak Region, Alexius Bong, led the Maxis team in distributing Christmas gifts to the guests, and also presented the contribution to representatives of the homes.

Meanwhile at the same venue, Maxis’ prepaid brand, Hotlink will also be organizing a special initiative in conjunction with Christmas called Youth4aCause, a singing competition in which all proceeds from the votes will be donated to charity. The competition, which will take place on 20 and 21 December here, is open to the public aged 12 to 30 years old, where they get to unleash their singing talent for a chance to win the Grand Prize of RM2,000.

“It’s always a privilege to do our part for charity during the festive season. This year, we are once again blessed to able to contribute to and share the celebrations with those who have less fortunate lives. We hope that we are able to bring smiles to their faces with today’s event and also to assist in the running of their homes with our humble contribution. We are also very pleased to organize our Youth4aCause programme for the first time, where will be empowering the youth to do their bit for charity. Nothing like starting young!” said Alexius.

The qualifying round of the Youth4aCause competition will be on 20 December, where the Top 10 participants will be selected and move on to perform in the final round on 21 December. During the finals, the Top 3 participants with the highest scores (50% based on judges’ scores and 50% based on votes) will win the top 3 prizes. The public is encouraged to show support by voting, which can be done by purchasing tokens and placing them at the designated voting board during the event.
