Maxis Hosts Hari Raya Open House For Charity Homes

About 200 residents from nine homes comprising disabled residents, senior citizens and orphans were special guests at this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House by Maxis Berhad (Maxis) held in Kuantan on 25 August. Hosted by Maxis' Chairman, YM Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad Bin Raja Tun Uda, members of Maxis' senior management and employees, the event was attended by residents from Pusat Jagaan Persatuan Pemulihan Orang Cacat, Pusat Jagaan Persatuan Kebangsaan Autisme Malaysia, Pusat Jagaan Orang Tua Grannies, Pusat Jagaan Kuantan Nursing Care Home, Pusat Jagaan Susan Villa Aged Care Pertubuhan Kebajikan Darul Nisa‘3i, Pusat Tahfiz Miftahul Qura’, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Dan Miskin Nur Iman, and Penempatan Anak Yatim Nadwah Permata Camar.

At the event, Maxis presented a total of RM50,000 to these homes. Meanwhile, residents put up some creative performances, and were also treated to a spread of delicious food.

"Today we feel blessed to be able to once again give back especially in the spirit of Hari Raya. The involvement of Maxis volunteers and spending time with our special guests here this afternoon is one of the initiatives of our continuing commitment to create a positive impact on communities who are not as privileged as the rest of us,” said Raja Tan Sri Arshad, who also distributed ‘duit raya’ to each resident.

As part of support for the needs of the community, Maxis has been embarking on various initiatives, including supporting the country’s aspirations in the areas of technology, education and youth development through its flagship Maxis’ Cyberkids programme for the past 12 years, providing ICT training to more than 8,600 students and teachers from 1,500 schools nationwide. In 2012, the Cyberkids initiative and Maxis has since extended the Cyberkids programme to Sekolah Pendidikan Khas, or special needs schools.
