Maxis nurtures future-ready talent with scholarships for Malaysian students pursuing STEM courses

Maxis, Malaysia’s leading integrated telco, has awarded scholarships to 16 deserving students under the Maxis Scholarship Programme 2024. This year’s Programme focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students, with the aim of combining financial aid with valuable industry exposure.
The scholarships were presented to the recipients by Maxis’ Interim Chairman Dato’ Hamidah Naziadin and Chief Executive Officer Goh Seow Eng at a ceremony held recently with the students and parents.
Open to Malaysian students enrolled in public and private universities in Malaysia and Singapore, a total of 700 applications were received this year. In addition to covering tuition fees and living expenses, the scholarship programme offers internship opportunities, hands-on experience, and guaranteed job placements with Maxis upon graduation.
The emphasis on STEM education reflects Maxis’ ongoing efforts to advance the nation’s digital agenda. Maxis has always been committed to developing future-ready talent who are ready for tomorrow’s economy. This includes cultivating skills and expertise around next generation technologies such as generative artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, data and 5G.
Maxis has been providing scholarships since 2006 to help students achieve their academic aspirations, with 346 scholarships awarded to date.

Nur Amirah Syahirah, a first-year Computer Science (Computer System and Network) student at Universiti Malaya (UM), said: “The scholarship has lifted a tremendous weight off my shoulders, allowing me to focus on my academics, co-curricular activities, and building my career. It has opened up new pathways, networking opportunities, and career prospects. I'm truly grateful to Maxis for this life-changing opportunity.”
Kirtanan A/L Mani Maran said the scholarship will enable him to focus on his degree in AI at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTMKL): “I will continue to maintain my academic results and pursue knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence, especially AI in 5G network. Being a Maxis Scholar gives me the opportunity to work with IT and AI specialists, which will further increase my knowledge and expertise in AI.”
Tee Zhi Yee, a first-year Accounting and Finance student at Sunway University, expressed: “This scholarship has fuelled my ambition to pursue a career in accounting and finance. It's an opportunity for me to build valuable connections and develop essential skills that will prepare me for a professional role in the future. I feel deeply responsible to make the most of this chance, and I'm committed to working harder than ever to achieve my goals.”
